Sweet! One of my longest returns, this one from Ryan Smyth. Ryan is known as Captain Canada, as he's played in many International matches representing Canada. He was drafted 6th overall by the Edmonton Oilers, and had made numerous stops in other cities before returning back home to Edmonton in the 2011 - 12 season. Thanks for the autograph Ryan!

Definitely one of my longer returns, this time from Chris Osgood. Chris is a retired NHL player who was best known for playing for the Detroit Red Wings. He made temporary stops in both St.Louis and NY but eventually returned back to the team that had drafted him 54th overall. I'm definitely happy to get Chris' autograph to add to my collection. A great return from Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom. Tomas has spent his entire career in front of the net and is definitely one of the best at screening goaltenders. Drafted well into the later rounds (257th overall), he has been a gem of a player and shows how well the Red Wings staff are at identifying diamonds in the rough. Thanks for the autograph Tomas!

A good return from Kirill Kavanov. I haven't heard much rumblings from this Russian forward as of late. He was drafted by the NY Islanders in 2010, going 65th overall. I received this autograph while he was playing for the Lewiston Maineiacs of the QMJHL, but now plays for the NY Islander's farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Thanks for the autograph Kirill!

A nice return from Chicoutimi's Christopher Gibson. Christopher is a second round pick of the LA Kings, back in the 2011 NHL entry draft. He has put up decent numbers, winning 14 games in the 2010-11 season. It appears as if Christopher is a great prospect for the Kings and will be in their lineup in the future.

A fantastic return from Gilbert Perreault, one of the members of the famous "French Connection" line. He was drafted 1st overall in the 1970 entry draft and admitted to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990, 3 years after his last game in a Buffalo Sabres uniform. Thanks for the autograph Gilbert!

A great return for my SP Essentials set, signed by Vancouver boy Milan Lucic. Milan is a great player, one that was passed on by most teams as he was drafted 50th overall. Thanks to Kevin for the Flickr idea for posts! It'll take some time to get used to, but I'm glad I'm back up and running. So for today's blog, we have Henrik Sedin, obviously the Canucks captain. I had recieved Henrik's autograph at a signing he did for EA Sports for the midnight launch of NHL 13. The final installment of my hounding session with the Edmonton Oilers. I was so happy to have gotten Burnaby, BC native Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and is probably one of the harder players to get through TTM (I don't know if he'll sign TTM, but I've sent out a few and haven't received any returns as of yet!). Ryan is one of the core players trying to help the Edmonton Oilers regain their Stanley Cup hopes. Him, along with Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, Nail Yakupov and Justin Schultz will be the core group, at least until the Oil can't afford them anymore.
I really like this Crown Royal RNH autographed card. It showed up so nicely and wasn't running like the Jordan Eberle cards previously written about. Thanks for the autograph Ryan and good luck the rest of the season with the OKC Barons.

Another fantastic success from the 2010, 1st overall draft pick, Taylor Hall! I was super stoked to have seen that he was willing to sign for the fans that were waiting for him. It isn't every day that you get to meet and take pictures with one of the brightest prospects in the NHL.

I managed to snag two signatures from Taylor himself, one on my Donruss Rated Rookies card, and on another Artifacts card. Both were signed in a blue sharpie, and are clearly legible (unlike the previous Jordan Eberle cards). I am happy that I was able to find cards which the autographed showed up well enough and not run.

A triple dose of Jordan Eberle! I managed to snag Jordan for a few autographs (with the help of my girlfriend) on two separate occasions during the OKC Barons' stay in Abbotsford. Jordan obviously doesn't need any type of introduction, as he is one of the most (in my opinion at least) exciting players on the Oilers' squad. He was drafted 22nd overall in the 2008 draft and is definitely helping to lead the charge of the Edmonton franchise becoming what it once was. He has also helped out with Team Canada, bringing gold to our country, back in 2008 and 2009.
I particularly like the autograph on the Victory Rookie card, as that's the one that came out the best. The Jordan Eberle autograph on the SP Authentic card didn't show up too well, due to the nature of the player on the card being a smooth surface. The same issue was found on the Rookie Anthology card, as the portion he signed on looked like it ran. Has anyone else happened to have encountered cards like these? I generally put an eraser to a card like the Victory, to prevent the smooth finish from making the card run, but I wasn't totally sure if it would work on the SP Authentic or the Rookie Anthology cards.

Regardless, I'm quite happy with the autos from Jordan. Thanks for being so fan friendly Jordan. I guess since there were three cards, it deserved an extra long blog post!

Next auto I managed to snag this trip was from Magnus Paajarvi. He was drafted 10th overall by the Edmonton Oilers, but obviously with the lockout, he's currently playing for the Oklahoma City Barons. He's been putting up, probably less than stellar point, but seems to be on the right track to success. He'll definitely be shadowed by many of the Oil young guns who have entered into the system since he was drafted. Magnus was definitely kind to sign these two cards for me. Yes! A nice jersey card signed in silver sharpie by tough guy Colten Teubert. Meeting Colton in person, he seems like a fairly nice guy, but had a few words for the hounders that were looking for 5+ autographs of the same picture of him. Part 1 of my hounding session of the OKC Barons this past weekend. I got Teemu Hartikainen of the Barons, whom was drafted in 2008, 163rd overall. He is a Finnish player, currently working his way up to the NHL level. Teemu had only played under 20 games per season in the NHL thus far. Thanks for the signing Teemu. He's a super friendly guy!

Wow, this has to be one of the longer returns I've had. This was a nice return from Mike Cammalleri, the former and current member of the Calgary Flames. A response that I'm particuarly excited about, in Mikko Koivu. Mikko is the current captain of the Minnesota Wild and has been a leader in the room for about 7 years now. A sweet autograph pickup autograph I purchased online from ebay. Calvin De Haan is a great NY Islanders prospects who was drafted 12th overall in 2009 entry draft. He's likely to hit the NHL circuit soon, perhaps when the lockout ends or in the next season. Another year in the AHL seems to be the prescription for this guy for now. Calvin signed this card in a great silver sharpie. Beautiful!

Closing in on a few milestones (almost 500 returns and nearly 100 returns for 2012). I'm actually quite happy with getting Brett Connolly's, formerly from the Prince George Cougars, autograph. Last year, Brett spent quite a few games up with the big club, the Tampa Bay Lightning and is destined to make the NHL as a full time player. In addition to playing in the NHL, he's also represented Canada quite a few times, winning gold in 2009 with the U-18 squad.

RJ Umberger was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 2001. He's turned out to be a decent hockey player, having played no games for the Canucks. A nice return on this SP Authentics card by Dion Phaneuf. Dion is the current captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and is probably one of the more consistent signers out there. Dion was a part of one of the greatest World Junior Teams, way back in 2005 (the time of the last lockout). Paul Reinhart, obviously, was a former Vancouver Canuck. He only played for the Canucks for two seasons (the final two of his career), but played most of his career as a Flame. Paul was initially drafted by the Atlanta Flames, 12th overall, in the 1979 entry draft. He currently resides in Vancouver, BC and is the son of future NHL star Griffin, Max & Sam Reinhart. Sergei Bobrovsky is a Russian born hockey player, currently playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He went undrafted, but started his career with the Philadelphia Flyers. Sergei was essentially deemed expendable when Ilya Bryzgalov was signed to a massive 9 year deal. At least now Sergei should get in more starts this year than he would've gotten in Philly!

Sweet, my first autograph by Vincent L. of the Tampa Bay Lighting. I believe Vincent is a strict "one per" autograph policy when returning TTM. Too bad no hockey for the beginning of the season. Adam Henrique would've been a part of the NJ Devils and help them compete for a Stanley Cup again this year. Last year he put up just over 50 points in 76 games and contributed in the playoffs, putting up 13 points. Unfortunately, he was reassigned to Albany Devils for the beginning of the season, which can't be terribly bad as he'll continue to develop his skills.

Jonas Hiller, the All-Star, currently plays for the Anaheim Ducks. He was an undrafted prospect when he first hit the NHL scene in 2007 by then GM Brian Burke. Since then, he's been a pretty solid goaltender, having gone to the Stanley Cup Finals and participating in the NHL All-Star game, among other NHL accolades.

Chris Pronger is a pretty consistent TTM'er from what I've seen. He's signed a few cards for me before, and most likely will be signing many more for fans before his retirement. Cam Ward is one of the best goaltenders in the league. He won a Stanley Cup as a rookie goaltender in 2006, the first since Patrick Roy in 1986. Cam will need to be great, again, as the Canes have a good shot at making the playoffs again with the addition of Jordan Staal and the resigning of Jeff Skinner.
